Okie becomes part of our family

Date: April, 2002

It was a nasty Winter night, April 5th 2002, when we drove 100km to get our new Golden Boy.  We had planned to meet his first owner in a predetermined location but once we got so far that was it for us.  The roads were icy and we were both nervous.  We called the guy and he was use to highway driving so came to us.

When we first saw this 10 month old boy we thought he was the picture of perfection.  Such a good physique and great manners... besides being a little to excited.  We got a hotel room and spent the night.  Next morning we left for home quite early to introduce Okie to his new home and his new big sister.

Doug and Okie outside our hotel.
Okie laying on the floor of the hotel room.  He was going from the floor to the bed all night... we did not get much sleep.
Here he is sitting up proudly and all excited for the drive home.
We took Okie out in the backyard and that is where Kaylee saw him for the first time.
She was quite unhappy at first, not too sure what this strange dog was doing in her backyard.
There were a few snarls and barks but they had lots of fun playing.
Time out Okie, we have to pose for a picture.  You better get use to this!
Here is our niece Sydeny, right in the middle of the two doggers... just where she loves to be.
Sniff, sniff.
Karen laying on the bed with Kalyee and Okie.  Okie looks pretty darn relaxed.
Tug 'o war...
Finally, someone who can hold their own.
Okie discovering the very enjoyable treat ball.
Kaylee chomping down on Okie's bones.
Okie deciding that the bones are pretty darn good.
But Doug's grapefruit looks quite tasty too.
